Digital Communications on Alcohol & Drug Use Training

This workshop is designed to support universities and students’ unions in creating digital communications about student drug and alcohol use. It also explores methods for engaging students in co-developing these messages.​

The course covers:​

  • Understanding the audience: student demographics and behaviours ​
  • Examples of how universities and students’ unions have communicated with students about drug and alcohol use​
  • Using language that avoids stigmatisation and encourages openness​
  • Guidance and support for developing effective communication plans​
  • Strategies for raising awareness through impactful messaging​
  • Techniques for involving students in shaping messages and communications. ​

By the end of the training, participants will feel confident in addressing alcohol and drug use with their students and will have ideas for actively engaging students in these conversations.​

Who is this training for? This training is appropriate for both students’ union and university staff and provides the opportunity to connect with staff from other institutions who are working towards harm reduction approach to drug use.

When and where is this training taking place? The training will take place 14:00 - 15:30 on the 4th June 2025 with a comfort break included. The training will take place online.
